Poetry & Light Verse

I am not a poet. Every now and then, a poem just pours itself out on paper and there it is. I know excellent poets who get an idea and fiddle around with it, getting just the word, the right meter, the right sound with consistently gratifying results. They sculpt words. I don't do that. I spend that kind of effort on prose. Still, every now and then it comes out anyhow.    I'm only good at poetry that just flows for me, not the kind I would have to work at.

Usually, I save poetic inspiration for my fiction writing. I find it easy in that setting. It helps me set moods, enhance themes, and improve my prose. If I sit down to write a poem on an idea, it is a losing struggle.
